For cheap food and cheap margarita pitchers, this is your place. You can't find margarita pitchers this cheap at any of the SW Blvd Mexican restaurants (or maybe anywhere). Our service has been very average each time--but we go back because it's a great value and the food is pretty good.

Pretty decent Mexican food in an area that doesn't always get it right. They had live music on the Friday night we stopped in there, which I wasn't expecting... nothing too overwhelming, just a guy with a guitar singing soft-pop versions of "Oye Como Va" and "Margaritaville". A nice touch & it wasn't so loud as to make conversation difficult. Our server Miguel was totally on top of his game, kept us in chips & salsa & drinks before we could even think about wanting refills. The chips were great! I think we got a batch that was freshly cooked: warm & just a little greasy, just how I like 'em. The salsa was also very fresh & substantially awesome. I ordered the burrito gigante, which was some serious truth in advertising, it could have fed four. The Guy ordered a chimi which was also pretty good (although I snuck only the smallest of tastes, since I was dealing with the God Emperor of Burritos & I was already getting pretty full) I thought the prices were way low for the amount of food that we got. We weren't drinking, so the whole meal cost us about $20 with tip. Can't beat that! We'll be back soon, I'm sure.

Nice mexican restaurant off the beaten path in Overland Park. Great selection of salsas besides the regular that you get free with your meal (yes the others have an additional cost but its worth the few extra dollars). I had the Chef's Special which was a great mixture of Chicken, shrimp, onions, jalapeños in a cheese sauce.

Man. I was hoping to give this place a good review, but it sucked! The salsa was awful, no spice, just like tomato juice. They have other salsas that they charge for, which I ordered but never came. The food is reasonably priced. The beans and rice were ok, but the steak in the fajitas was very tough and the guacamole tasted like the kind from the package at the store. Gross! The waiter was very hard to understand and seemed to struggle with understanding us as well. We had 4 kids with us and the place was absolutely dead, but he seated us on the dance floor and seemed to keep forgetting we were down there. I would also suggest they fix their tables, as ours were so wobbly we had to hold onto it for dear life so our kids didn't accidentally send our drinks flying.

I have been several times with my family and we all love the food. The salsa is really good and my kids really love the white cheese dip. The prices are reasonable and we have liked everything we have tried so far. The service has always been great too.

Horrible! Place only had 2 other tables and still the service sucked. But, there is still one thing I can say about the service...It's not as bad as the food. I had some type of burnt to a crisp meat inside a burrito that came back up as soon as I could manage to hurry home. This was the second try and it will not get a third.

Stopped in here last week to get a quick bite to eat. I figured it's new and wanted to give it a shot, especially since there are not a ton of Mexican places to choose from in this area. I've been to this space before when it was under different ownerships. It's a large space, looks like it's setup to be a pool hall on one side. It's been painted to fit the Mexican decor, lots of green, yellow, and red. We opted for the bar, since you usually tend to get the best service in a place that is kind of dead (there were probably six or so other people here). Maria was our server/bartender and started us off with 20oz Cabo Wabo margaritas for $4.95. Yes, a premium margarita was under $5 and it's HUGE!. I had a second one and mentioned the first seemed to be a lot of mix. The second one was an awesome mix including Gran Marnier. I had the carnitas burrito and it was pretty tasty. We had a couple different salsas in front of us, one being the standard, the other a fresh avacado salsa which was very good. Maria even had it made fresh, so we waited a few minutes to get it. Overall, it's good, decent Mexican food. Maria, the bartender and server was great. I'd ask for her if you're in. Atmosphere isn't the best because of how massive this space is. The bar suits me just fine though.

I was craving Mexican and Margaritas the night we went and was excited to try a new restaurant close to our house. We sat at the bar and our server, Maria was super friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered a round of the Cabo Wabo margs which hit the spot. A little too much syrupy mix but I have a hard time complaining anytime I have a drink in my hand so I gladly downed it. I ordered the carnitas which were pretty darn good but not the best I've ever had. The portions were huge and the flavors of the food were better the next day for lunch. I was definitely a fan of that! We will definitely be back. My biggest concern is that the space is huge and there were only a handful of patrons during busy dinner hours. Not a lot of atmosphere if you catch my drift. If they want to make it, they might want to do some more advertising, ASAP.

Pretty good Mexican in middle America. I had the steak burrito and my friend had the carnitas plate. I must say I was impressed. Try this place out.

We went back again tonight and I really like this place. Great food, margaritas and a variety of salsas - from mile to very hot! Great place worth a try!

I got their Strawberry Margarita and it was awful. It tasted like a watered down, Bethenny Frankel Skinny Girl Margarita. I've never returned a cocktail before.

Yummy and a great place to take little kids. The service is very friendly and the cheese dip is very good. We are picky on margs and theirs aren't great but if you order with a shot of grand marneir it helps. We don't like them sweet but if you do, then you will like them. They are pretty cheap too!

Worst customer service I have received in a long time. Very disappointing. I tried to go here for my birthday with family. The only reason why we went here was because of a restaurant.com coupon. We would have never heard of it otherwise... Upon being seated we noticed a sign saying they do not accept restaurant.com coupons even though they had a partnership with them and we had purchased one. When we questioned the server he got extremely defensive and acted as we should have known they didn't accept coupons. Instead of apologizing and offering a pitcher of margaritas or anything else for the inconvenience, he managed to get the owner and then the owner started yelling at us too about how we should've known they don't accept the coupon!!!! This behavior is extremely unprofessional. When we were waking out, I turned around and heard the owner making excuses and talking about the situation with another table of customers!!!!!! I was speechless. We took our $100 dinner down the street to Jose peppers. All I have left to say is wow, and to the owner- good luck trying to make it in this local restaurant world with horrible customer service.

I took my friend Jana out for her birthday dinner and the pre-planning convo went like this... Me: So what kind of food do you want? Jana: Mexican. Me: So, Port Fonda. Jana: How about Margarita Paradise? Me: (rolls eyes at the kind of place he thinks it will be with a name like that) How about not? Jana: How about I'm the birthday girl? Me: Okay :-) It was really good! I got tacos al pastor - which I'm in a great position to judge after years of living in Southern California. Great guacamole and just nice and pleasant service. Don't be fooled by the name. They take the food seriously here. Oh, and I guess they serve margaritas here too but as a non-fan of tequila, I didn't try them.

I came here quite by accident. I had my heart set on the Indian buffet at this intersection, but it was closed tight with a health inspection notice on the front door. GULP. So, we skipped across Metcalf. At first, I thought this was yet ANOTHER location of Margarita's. Nope, it's its own thing, as far as I can tell. You know what else it is? DE-EFFING-LICIOUS. I am a tacos al pastor lover -hmmmmmmm, marinated pork on corn tortillas with cilantro and lime. The trio at Margarita Paradise was different than any I've had before. There was marinated pineapple mixed in with the pork, and instead of the usual pico de gallo, these came with brown tomatillo salsa. The spicy pork, sweet pinapple and biting tomatillos came together to form some bomb-diggity tacos. I also had the nopales salad - nopales (fresh cactus) with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and queso fresco. I had expected it to be cold due to the "salad" moniker, but it came out warm and fresh and spicy. Needless to say, I was won over. (My one complaint being the chips - these were quite thick and I'm very partial to the thin, crispy ones). The restaurant was eerily empty - but it was the day after Cinco de Mayo, so maybe people were Margarita-ed out? I hope that's the case, because this place deserves some business. The next time there's a thirty minute wait at Mi Ranchito, drive a few blocks down Metcalf and check this place out. There's room for more than one good Mexican place in OP!

Some buddies from work and I decided to check this place out for our lunch break. So far we've been there twice. Both times we ordered their Chicken Chimichanga daily lunch special which turns out to be a fairly good deal at under $6.00 for lunch! The place looks fairly new, clean, modern interior, and plenty of space. It looks like they even have a dance floor. I believe they opened late last year around September. I was surprised there were only 3 other parties dining during our visit. I'm not sure if there is a reason for that other than they are new to the block. On both visits the service was quick and very adequate. Chips were quite good and served to us warm. Salsa was good too. It had a little spice like it should. I do warn cilantro haters... you might feel different on the salsa because you can certainly taste cilantro. I personally thought it was just right though. After feasting on chips and salsa, our food quickly arrived which was also satisfying. I'd like to try this place during a dinner service or at least when they are busy to see how they hold up. However from my two visits I feel they deserve at least a 3.5 rating. Summary: - New, clean, and spacey interior - Doesn't seem to get busy during lunch...at least gauging from my two visits - Good chips and salsa - Great daily lunch specials! Chimichanga for $6 is a decent deal - I would like to visit when they are busy or for a dinner service

I was a little turned off when we walked in, but my motto is to "never judge a book by its cover." It wasn't very inviting. Two were at the bar and a couple was eating at a table. We were seated and decided to try it. I thought the chips seemed a little stale, but my husband liked them. The salsa was spicy and was good. I ordered the margarita, but it didn't have much alcohol. We ordered food...I got the Special Burrito. The plate was screaming hot, but the burrito was very warm and not hot. I don't think we'll go back.

For the 2nd time in as many visits this business has been difficult to deal with. First visit (picked up to go order using their mailer coupon) they tried to keep the change, and tried to charge extra for chips. Second time we used the 2015 Entertainment Book coupon that states, in bold print "$8.00 Value", good for one free entree with purchase of entree (lunch or dinner), and NO MENTION OF DRINKS REQUIRED, and NO MENTION OF DINE IN ONLY!!! Showed the coupon to the lady running the joint, but she insisted the discount would be for only $6.50 and said I'm lucky she's giving me that. Watch your change here, and CHECK YOUR RECEIPT.

I had the worst experience at this location. I had accidentally locked my keys in my car on a saturday evening. I realized it within a half hour of entering the club. I went to the doorman insisting I needed to get to my car, that my keys were missing. He literally blocked me from leaving claiming his line was too long. Amazed, I stated again that I had lost my keys and I just needed to contact roadside assistance. The guy told me if I leave I am not allowed back in and would have to wait in the cold. I was not his problem. I think his complete lack of integrity for his paying clientel and disrespect to make a woman wait out in the cold, is a perfect reason to not go here again.

We decided to try this for lunch. We walked through the restaurant and took a seat on the patio. I'm not sure what goes on in that restaurant at night, but it looks and feels like a nightclub. We were only one of two tables that day, but service was super attentive. The chips were hot and fresh. Salsa was just OK. They brought me their spicier salsa and it had a lot more flavor. I had the chicken enchilada's. Pretty yummy, but I feel like there might be something better on the menu, so I am going to try something else next time. Portions are huge.

My cousin and I were feeling like margs on a patio, and came across this place. We ordered large margaritas and the guacamole salsa. The margs were ginormous but lacked the alcohol content to warrant a 12 buck pricetag. And, very sweet. I am not sure what the difference is between their guacamole salsa and guacamole dip is, because the salsa we got was more dip (blended) then salsa, which I had expected to be more chopped. Decent flavor however. People watching was fun, as the clientele is quite a diverse crowd.

Really want to like this place as it's about 3 blocks away. I've tried it 3 times. One for lunch inside, and twice for takeout. I first went for takeout tacos - called ahead and was there within 10 minutes, Waited another 15 minutes for the order. Got home, about a minute later and found the tacos literally cold! Put them in the microwave and ate them. 2nd attempt was better. Had the Burrito Real for lunch inside. Waitress was attentive and food was hot. 3rd attempt - total fail! (Again - I want a great mexican place real close) Walked in on a almost totally empty place. Host directed me to bar to place to-go order, and waited about 10 minutes while bartender gave all his attention to the one single woman at the bar. As I was walking out, I heard a "thank you" from him. Never again

This was our first time at Margarita Paradise & we were very pleased. I had the Chef's Special; chicken& shrimp with jalapeño in a cream sauce - very good. My husband created his own; burrito, tamale& enchilada with beans & rice. We brought plenty home and plan to go back often. Very good food & very good service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
